He was predeceased by: his father Douglas Wirta; and his brother Wayne. He is survived by: his mother Mary Wirta of Gales Ferry, CT; his children, Cedric and Olivia; his brothers, Whitney (Weikko) and Cedric; Maureen Sainsbury Wirta.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the Mystic Funeral Home (51 Williams Ave, Mystic, CT 06355). A memorial service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to Save the Bay, a conservation group focused on preserving the wildlife of Narragansett Bay, to honor the joy he found in caring for his many fish at home.
