It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rutha M. Cooks (Lincoln, Rhode Island), born in Cuthbert, Georgia, who passed away on May 29, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Rutha had on those she encountered along her journey. Though Rutha may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jack Queen and Epsie Gilbert; her husband Walter Cooks; her sons, Lawrence C. Howard and Donald Queen; and her brothers, Harden Gilbert, Homer Queen, Leonard Gilbert, Ernest Gilbert and David Queen.
She is survived by: her daughter Virginia Queen Clemons. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Keefe Funeral Home (5 Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI 02865). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
