He was predeceased by: his parents, Neil F. Vars and Pauline Vars (Manchester); and his brothers, Neil and Paul Vars. He is survived by: his wife Iona Yvonne Vars (Johnson); his children, Cathy L. Vars-Wilkerson (Keith) of Rumford, RI and Paul D. Vars (Andrew T. Wilcox); his grandson Jayden A. Mobley; and his sisters, Carol Patenaude, Sharon Rebello (Peter) and Debra Jackson (Michael). He is also survived by many brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home (88 Columbia St, Wakefield, RI 02879). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the Rhode Island Veterans' Memorial Cemetery (301 S County Trail, Exeter, RI 02822).
