We announce the death of Mildred Elaine James (North Kingstown, Rhode Island), born in Providence, Rhode Island, who passed away on July 27, 2026, at the age of 90. Mildred will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Mildred’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her husband Norman A. James. She is survived by: her children, Martha Roof (Scott), Curtis James (Betsy) and Deborah McCall (Chuck); and her grandchildren, Eric, Emily, Ellen, Sam, Maxwell, Kelly and Molly. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
A requiem service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church (99 Peirce St, East Greenwich, RI 02818). A burial will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Swan Point Cemetery Chapel (585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence, RI 02906).
