He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter J. Steele and Mary Albina Salvas; his siblings, Albina, Mary, Walter and George; and his son John T. Steele Jr..
He is survived by: his former wives, Dorothy (James Steele Sr.) and Sheri Santiago (Michael Steele); his grandchildren, Natalia, Alexis and James Jr.; his great grandchildren, Marlie, Ryleigh and Aedan; his siblings, Thomas "Tommy" Steele, David Kemp, Patty and Alex; and his spouse Nelma. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
