He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Augusto Fonseca and Teresa Fonseca (Bernardo); his significant other Suzanne Rylands; his brother Cesar Fonseca; his sister-in-law Alice; his sister Elizabeth Sousa; his brother-in-law Domingos; his daughter Lori; his son-in-law Charles Gallant of Manchester; his son Joseph Fonseca; his daughter-in-law Lynn of Atlanta, Georgia.; his significant other's son Todd; his son Scott; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Kathryn, Joshua and Rachel. He was also cherished by several nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, Joe would be honored to have donations made to the Providence VA Medical Center for veterans services or cancer research and care.
