He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Andrew and Beatrice MacFarland (Shine); and his siblings, Andrew MacFarland, Mary Jane Williams and Dawn MacFarland.
He is survived by: his wife Jane (Howe); his children, Meghan MacFarland Smith (Derek) and Brit MacFarland; his grandsons, Maximus and Rockford; his sisters, Kay Stringer (Bill) and Gail Turner; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Polseno and Joel Howe (Linda). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends.
