He was predeceased by: his parents, William Poons and Lucille Poons (Levine); his former wife Elizabeth A. Poons (Righie); his granddaughter Joyce; and his brothers, Austin Poons, Donald Poons and Francis Poons.
He is survived by: his wife Betty R. Kabbas Poons (Horrigan); his children, Robert Poons (Florence), Harry Smith, Patricia Deitch and Elizabeth Mullin; his sister Danielle Faella (Jerry); his grandchildren, Ericka, Lisa, Lynn, Tammy, Robert Jr. and Travis; and his great grandchildren, Jacob, Alex and Camden.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 23rd 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the A. A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home (200 Hawkins St, Providence, RI 02904). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
