He was predeceased by: his parents, Masaya Tanaka and Frances Tanaka (Suzuki); his aunt Edith Suzuki; his sibling Namie Smith (Tanaka); and his niece Theresa Smith.
He is survived by: his sibling's children, Jennifer Nyland (Andy), Stephanie and Britton.
