With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Whalen of Providence, Rhode Island, who passed away on August 6, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Mary J. Whalen (Morrisroe); his parents, Francis R. Whalen and Madeline Whalen (Cooney); and his siblings, Francis E. Whalen and Barbara Landi.
He is survived by: his children, Jack Whalen (Robin) of Narragansett, Timothy F. Whalen (Dianna) of Narragansett and Marianne B. Whalen of Cranston; his sister Lorraine Carnevale of East Providence; and his grandchildren, Jarred, Jonathan, Jeremy, Emily, Emilia and Audrey.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 11th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Skeffington Funeral Home & Cremation (925 Chalkstone Ave, Providence, RI 02908). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Blessed Sacarment Church (179 Academy Ave, Providence, RI 02908).
