He was predeceased by: his parents, Tillie Whitney and Clifford Whitney; his wife Hilda; his sisters, Genevieve Mott and Helen Winterhalter; his siblings-in-law, Frederick Mott, Ilse Kitchen and Mary Doerler; and his grandson Lief Whitney.
He is survived by: his children, John (Laura), Kathryn Lucey (William III), Donald (Sharon), James (Patricia) and Michael; his grandchildren, Aleah Kirchner (Michael), Brian Whitney, Bradley Whitney (Shannon), William Lucey IV, Tucker Lucey, Jacob Grisewood (Hannah), Joseph Grisewood (Haley), Benjamin Whitney and Simon Whitney; his great grandchildren, Cameron, Miles, Riley Kirchner and Mortimer Grisewood; his brother Clifford "Bud" Whitney (Carol); and his brothers-in-law, William "Bill" Doerler (Patricia), John "Jack" Winterhalter and John "Al" Kitchen. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
