He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Afonso (Francis); his parents, Manuel Afonso and Maria Afonso (Moniz); and his siblings, Manuel Afonso, Evelyn Freitas, Natalia Raposa and Maria Morgado.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Wilson (late Scott) of Coventry, Jesse M. Afonso of East Providence, John (Elizabeth Afonso) and Kevin (Elizabeth Afonso); his grandchildren, Justin, Kate, Patrick, Courtney, Jacob and Krysta; and his great grandchildren, Orion, Ludwig and Damon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the Rebello Funeral Home & Crematory (901 Broadway, East Providence, RI 02914). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Saint Francis Xavier Church (81 N Carpenter St, East Providence, RI 02914). A committal service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery (550 Wampanoag Trl, Riverside, RI 02915).
