He was predeceased by : his parents, Jose D. Mendes and Ermelinda Mendes (Nunes); and his brothers, Abel Mendes and Peter Mendes. He is survived by : his wife Maria C. Mendes (Paulo); his children, Dennis Mendes (Alison) of Rumford and Edith Zitrides (George) of Laughlin, Nevada.; and his siblings, Ramiro "Ray" Mendes of Rumford and Mary Martins of East Providence. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
