Downey (Wakefield, Rhode Island), born in Milford, Connecticut, who passed away at the age of 82, on October 28, 2023. She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Frederick McGirr and Ruth Carlson McGirr; her husband Dick Downey; her family, Richard Clinton Downey and Trevor Norman Downey; her sons, Richard Clinton Downey of Cranston and Trevor Norman Downey of St. Augustine, FL; her grandson Andrew Downey of North Kingstown, RI; her sister Bettejane Hopkins of Deep River; her sisters-in-law, Deborah Afasano of Clearwater, FL, Pamela Dodge of Whispering Pines, NC and Joan Downey of Guilford, CT; and her friends, Leslie Thomas, Sue McPartlin, Rene Bertrand, Micheal Montle, Ray and Carleglio. She was also cherished by loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed in support of the Master Gardeners program at URI.
