He was predeceased by: his wives, Linda A. Mello (Lever) and Helen Mello (Phillips); his parents, Joseph C. Mello and Mary Mello (DeCosta-Leiter); and his brothers, Joseph C. Mello, Jr., Daniel Mello, Arthur "Archie" Mello and Edward Mello.
He is survived by: his children, Tashay "Louise" Geoffroy of South Carolina, Linda Logan of Florida, Laureen Mello of Florida, Lillian Mello (Hank Walther) of New Hampshire and Loretta McMahon (Craig) of Waterville, Maine.; his stepchildren, John "Jay" Resendes (Molly) of Riverside and Theresa "Rene" Santos of Bristol; and his grandchildren, Ryan Geoffroy, Britni Kamphuis (Logan), Quentin Mello, Ian Logan and Sierra Lagasse. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
