He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas F. Ryan and Doris E. Ryan (Clark). He is survived by: his wife Mary Ryan (Hughes); his children, Christine Ford (Josh Ford) and D. J. Ryan (Leann Bowen); his grandchildren, Ryan, Abigail, June and Oscar; and his siblings, Thomas Ryan Jr., Joan Pappas, Sharon Turbitt and Stephen Ryan.
