He was predeceased by: his father Robert L. Mernick; and his sister Jane Mernick Long. He is survived by: his mother Mary C. Mernick (Quarnstrom) of Warwick; and his siblings, Paula M. Reynolds of Warwick, Ellen A. Mernick of Woodside, CA, Susan F. Mernick of Warwick, John C. Mernick of Warwick, Paul D. Mernick of Warwick, James F. Mernick of Warwick, Peter A. Mernick of Warwick and Mary E. "Liz" Burri of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 380 Westminster Street, Providence, RI 02903.
