He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander R. Gavitt and Rachel E. Gavitt (Ure); and his siblings, Alexander R. Gavitt, Donald R. Gavitt and Sandra R. Morgan.
He is survived by: his daughter Melinda Belle Hemberger (Daniel); and his grandsons, Benjamin Daniel and William Gavitt Hemberger of Califon.
