He was predeceased by: his wife Grace Moffitt (Scheller); his parents, Freeman Moffitt and Esther Moffitt; and his children, Melody Moffitt, Ellis L. Moffitt, Jr. and Stephen C. Moffitt.

He is survived by: his sons, Christopher S. Moffitt (Tangerine) of Pawcatuck and Richard Moffitt of California. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
