He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Thavenet and Esther Thavenet (Patton). He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Sayles Thavenet; his son Eric S. Thavenet (Alexandra) of Pawcatuck; and his granddaughters, Annabelle, Zoe Thavenet and Victoria Hamm.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the "Skip Thavenet Scholarship Fund" established in 2019 by the Thavenet family for students in Stonington, North Stonington, Westerly, and the Chariho School District pursuing post high school education in the trades. Donations can be sent to Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut (CFECT) 68 Federal Street New London, CT 06320.
