He was predeceased by: his wife Marlene Gowen (Switzer); his parents, Lawrence Gowen and Helen Gowen; and his brother Lawrence Gowen. He is survived by: his children, Joanne Malczyn (John), Stephen Gowen (JoAnne), Dennis Gowen and Ken Gowen (Greg Willisson); and his grandchildren, Daniel, Amanda, Jennifer, Michael, Christina, Sara and Sean. He is also survived by his five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate gifts to St. Jude's Research Hospital for Children, one of Robert's favorite charities.
