He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter, Sr. Thomas and Adele Thomas; and his siblings, David, Richard Thomas and Sarah Crapps.

He is survived by: his spouse Makyal L. Thomas of Westerly; and his children, Robert E. Thomas of Westerly and Debbie Irwin of Hope Valley. He is also survived by three grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
