He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel Carroll and Fred Carroll; and his siblings, Mary Mundy, Pat Carroll and Mary Leila Ellis.
He is survived by: his wife Gertie; his children, Jerry Mitchell Carroll, Jr., Jon Gregory Carroll and Tammie Carroll Strasburger (Gus); his siblings, Freddie Leigh Taylor and Robert Carroll Walker (Yvonne); his grandchildren, Sunshine Ellis (John), Amy Griffin, Sarah Spencer (Steve), Trae King and Megan Williams (Brett); and his great grandchildren, Johnathan Ellis (Amelia), Anna Grace Griffin (Austin), Stephanie Griffin, Caleb Griffin, Kaytelynne Griffin, Ricki Carroll, Dylan Carroll (Tyranni), Ethan Sullivan, Emma Sullivan, Max Williams, Charli Williams and Ruth Hazel Williams. He is also survived by thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Abbeville - Harris Funeral Home (302 N Main St, Abbeville, SC 29620). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens (2688 SC-72, Abbeville, SC 29620).
