He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter E. Schmidt and Clara Bewe Schmidt; and his daughter-in-law Dr. Clarissa Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Diane Dolejs Schmidt; his children, David Schmidt, Peggy Desmarais, Aiken (Beverly) of Michael Schmidt, MD and Penny Benedict (Donnie); his grandchildren, Marshall Gunnels, Brandee Poole (Sheldon), Bobby Desmarais, Haley Gunnels and Caleb Schmidt; his great grandchildren, Natalee and Emmalee Poole; and his brother Robert Schmidt (Fran).
