She was predeceased by: her parents, William Carter and Margaret Carter; her daughter Cara Anne Beal; and her sister Iris Scaggs. She is survived by: her husband Rodney A. Beal; her daughter Tania Cowart; her grandchildren, Connor, Trevor, Ainsley and Bailey Cowart; and her sisters, Joy Elliott and Florence McGuire.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 North Main Street Chamberlain, SD 57325, a cause close to Alma's heart.
