He was predeceased by : his father William Clinton Tatum; his sisters, Mary Ruth Sisemore and Sarah Francis Jagoditsch; his former life partner Patricia Forrester Tatum; and his son Paul Daniel Tatum.

He is survived by : his wife Mildred Hall Tatum; his children, Judy Lynn Tatum, David Forrester Tatum (Karen Gilley Tatum) and Gregory Hall Tatum; and his granddaughters, Julia C. Tatum and Maria E. Tatum.

He served on the steering committee of Business Roundtable, Office of Technology Assessment of the U.S. Congress, the Conservation Foundation, and the National Environmental Development Association.
