He is survived by: his half-sister Alice Luther; his sister Rosetta "Kitty" Chase; and his children, Chao, Jim, Ed, Dave and Susan Tyler. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great‑grandchildren, and 1 great‑great‑grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson's Research, a cause deeply important to Earnest, as Barbara battled Parkinson's disease until her passing.
