It is with sadness that the passing of Opal Crain Thompson of Aiken, South Carolina is shared. Opal, born on November 15, 1932, passed away on September 6, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Crain and Eva Stansberry Crain; her husband James "J. T." Thompson; her daughters, Connie Thompson and Julia "Judy" Gilbert; and her sisters, Bertha Coleman and Mizie Allen.
She is survived by: her children, Patricia Arthurs (Mike) and Greg Thompson (Lynn); and her grandchildren, Derek Thompson (Ashley), Shana Smart (Scott Rains), Nicholas Thompson, Adam Thompson, Phillip Arthurs (Lynn), Brenda Hicks (Anthony) and Randy Arthurs. She is also survived by 12 greatgrandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home (715 E Pine Log Rd, Aiken, SC 29803). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Aiken Memorial Gardens (1523 Edgefield Hwy, Aiken, SC 29801).
