He was predeceased by: his parents, Mike Medvid and Pauline Medvid; and his siblings, Paul Medvid, Steven Medvid (Skip), Dennis Medvid and Elaine Medvid Kandravy.

He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Nowicki Medvid; his children, Eric Medvid (Melissa) of Brentwood, Tennessee and Lori Wakefield (Chris) of Cookeville, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Taylor Trahan of Cookeville, Alexandra Medvid of Franklin, Avery Wakefield of Chattanooga, Michael Medvid of Franklin and Ella Beckham of Miami, Florida.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association.
