He was predeceased by : his parents, Esley Olmstead and Rhoda McBride Olmstead; his wife Mary Agnes Olmstead; his daughters, Patricia Smith and Mary Elizabeth Jahn; and his siblings, Rutherford Olmstead, Edwin Olmstead and Jean Burns.

He is survived by : his children, Carl Olmstead and Peggy Olmstead (Robert Lounsbury); his grandchildren, Lori Lopez (Jimmy) and Darren Jahn; and his great grandchildren, Justin, Madison and Tristen.
