He was predeceased by : his wife Bette Campbell Anderson; his grandson Jonathan Kirk Davis, Jr.; and his brothers, Richard "Dicky" Harrison Anderson and Bannister "Ban" Allen Anderson. He is survived by : his children, Hampton Gustavus "Andy" Anderson IV (Donna), James Edward "Jimmy" Anderson and Elizabeth Anderson Davis; his brother Charles Robert "Bobby" Anderson (Mimi); his sisters-in-law, Elsie Anderson, Vicki Anderson, Margaret Herndon and Susan Campbell; his grandchildren, Ashley Messina (Jonah), Hampton Anderson, Madison Anderson, Briggs Anderson and Deva Anderson; and his great grandchildren, J. J., Eliza Kirk and Hampton Messina. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Central Presbyterian Church (1404 N. Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621). A reception was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
