He was predeceased by: his parents, Mack Benjamin and Mary Louise Addis Hicks; his son Collin Smith Hicks; and his brother Benjamin B. Hicks. He is survived by: his daughter Hannah Caroline Hicks; his granddaughter Ava Wilson; and his cousin Wayne H. "Butch" Hicks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
