He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Ellis Vassar and Bessie Mary Hutchins Oxley; and his wife Lisa Vassar. He is survived by: his children, Brooklyn Chastain (Shane), Courtney Ballenger (Cody), Janie Leibell (David), Holland Church and Christopher Vassar; his grandchildren, Colton Ballenger, Charleston Chastain, Eliza Leibell, Conway Ballenger and Jay Leibell; his brother Chris Vassar (Penny); his niece Lillian Vassar; and his close friend Shannon Peeler.

Flowers are optional; or memorials may be made to Vets Helping Vets Anderson, P.O. Box 265, Anderson, SC 29622.
