He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Glenn Wilkie and Janie Lee Wilkie; his sons, Joel Daniel Wilkie, Jr. and Robert Glenn Wilkie; and his brother Henry Mitchell Wilkie.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Lee Wilkie; his daughters, Dana Wilkie Milam (Stephen), Amber Mestrovic Warner (Donald) and Stjepan Gabriel Mestrovic; his grandchildren, Ivy Elizabeth Mestrovic, Daniel Thomas Milam (Clarissa), Victoria Noelle "Bella" Mestrovic, Sara Catherine Milam and Laken Ann Warner; and his great grandchildren, Cailey, Alexander, Eric and Jayke Nabors.
