He was predeceased by: his parents, Hamp Gary and Marie Gary; and his wife Ella Mae Green-Gary. He is survived by: his daughters, LaToya Gary of Georgia and Lawanda Gary of Charleston. He is also survived by five grandsons; one granddaughter; along with a hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
