He was predeceased by: his parents, Estelle Manigault Steed and James Steed, Sr.; his siblings, Richard Steed, Hazel Steed, Leon "Bill" Steed (Bell), James Steed, Jr. (Anna Steed), Maxie Steed, Edward "Eddie" Steed (Georgie Mae), John Sherrill Steed, Arthur Steed, Letha Steed, Delores Steed and Ruth Gray (Henry); his nephews, James "Pop" Steed, III, Wilbur L. Steed and Mark Gray; and his niece Mary Alice Steed-Johnson (Allen).
He is survived by: his nephews, Jeffrey B. Steed (Pamela), Patrick B. Steed (Tina) and Xavier "PuDa" Gray; and his sisters-in-law, Willa Mae Steed and Kathleen Steed of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
