Fae Lee Sanders Obituary
FAE LEE SANDERS, affectionately known as “Jerry” or “Dream” was born on Saturday, March 27, 1948 in Barnwell County, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late Mr. Roney Sanders and the late Mrs. Lela Thompson Sanders. During the early morning hours of Friday, June 27, 2025, the gates of eternity swung open as God called him home. God touched his heart and whispered, “Come home, My child.” He transitioned into eternal peace at his residence in Barnwell, South Carolina.
Seeking God’s direction and guidance, at an early age he joined and became a baptized member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Barnwell, South Carolina. His education was provided by teachers and mentors of the Barnwell County public school system.
He was employed in the manufacturing industry as a Leadman at Ducane Heating Corporation for many years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, coaching softball, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his comedic personality and his famous walk.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ruther Lee Riley Mixon, affectionately known as “Ruther Mae”, and together they raised and nurtured a beautiful family.
In addition to his grandparents, he was preceded in death and is now resting with his beloved son, Patrick B. Mixon; son-in-law, David G. Washington; parents, Roney and Lela T. Sanders; and two sisters, Jesteen “Tee” Robinson, and Brenda Hallingquest.
Those remaining to cherish fond memories are: his loving and devoted wife of forty-two years, Ruther M. Sanders of the home; two daughters, Denise Mcford Miller of Daytona Beach, FL, and Stephanie M. Washington of Barnwell, SC; three sons, Derrick Mcford of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Keith Walker and Reverend Reginald A. Mixon, Sr. both of Barnwell, SC; four grandchildren reared in the home, Charlton G. Mixon of Lexington, KY, Robbie Johnson, Lafrances Anderson, and Khalah Mixon (Kenan) Aldrich all of Barnwell, SC; eight grandchildren, Xavier Myers, Michael Washington, Christopher Washington, Desarae Mixon, De’Vaughn Thomas, TreVaughn Thomas, Reginald Mixon, Jr., and Reverend Tyriq Harley; twelve great-grandchildren, Nakia Sutton, Aaliyah Anderson, Aiden Anderson, Arianna Gibson, Jordan R. Gibson, Kailyn C. Gibson, Kahrin F. Mixon, Davida Mixon, A’Miyah Highsmith, Messiah G. Mixon, Kaysen Aldrich, and Kenadi Aldrich; one brother, Charles (Gail) Sanders of Barnwell, SC; two sisters, Annie Sanders, and Minnie Odom both of Barnwell, SC; mother-in-law, Bessie Elizabeth Williams of Allendale, SC; two sisters-in-law, Cassandra Williams of Allendale, SC, and Merinda W. (Deacon Kevin) Faust of Blackville, SC; one brother-in-law, Eric Williams of Allendale, SC; and a host of dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
