He was predeceased by : his parents, Wade Floyd Babb and Lila Belle Watts Babb; his great grandchild Olivia Ruth Towne; his granddaughter-in-law Taylor Marie Towne; and his brothers, Floyd Pinckney "Buddy" Babb and William Eugene "Billy" Babb.

He is survived by : his wife Jo Barnhart Babb; his daughter Leigh Babb Towne (Richard); his grandchildren, Richard Blake Towne and Priscilla Towne Summerford (Grant); his great grandchild Richard Mason Towne; and his sister Claire Babb Creech. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
