He was predeceased by: his parents, John Freddie Gunnells, Sr. and Annie Mae Fail Gunnells; his siblings, Helen Miller, Margaret Still, John Freddie Gunnells, Jr., Roosevelt Gunnells and Frank Gunnells; and his son-in-law Everette Sanders.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Joany and Eric Cooper; his wife Sue Gunnells; his children, Brenda Blankenship (James Barry), Connie G. Sanders, Reverend Timmy Gunnells (Teresa) of Barnwell, SC and Andy Gunnells (Eileen) of Barnwell, SC; his brother Olin Gunnells (Betty) of Olar, SC; and his grandchildren, Garon Blankenship (Laura), Evan Blankenship (Tori), Heather Sanders, Brent Sanders (Brittany), Kenneth Gunnells (Jennifer), Robbie Gunnells (Katy), Anthony Gunnells (Victoria), Brandon Hutson (Danielle) and Brittany Owens (James).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Green Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church (220 Green Branch Rd, Barnwell, SC 29812). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
