He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Aaron D. and Delma Kennedy Hair; his daughter Branna Vaughn; and his siblings, Glenn Hair and Vonetta Barker Black.

He is survived by: his wife Deborah Frost Hair of Branchville; and his children, Terry Hair, James LaPlant of Barnwell, Lynne Middleton (Lester) of Brunson, Stacey Edgerley of North Augusta, Rebecca West (Sam) of Aiken and Crystle Thomas (Zac) of Branchville. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
