He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Waits McCartha; his parents, Elvin McCartha and Alberta McCartha; his son Larry "Chuck" Porth; and his great grandchild Rylan M. Hicks.

He is survived by: his daughters, Jeuli Dawkins (Ronnie) and Penni Norris (Richard); his siblings, Jimmy McCartha (Debi) and Virginia Leaphart (Clayton); his grandchildren, Jenni Stone (Ryan), Rebekah Norris, Amanda Hicks (Michael), Matthew Porth (Christa), Taylor Porth, Tess Dawkins (Tyler) and Nash Dawkins; and his great grandchildren, Ayla, Weston, Macie, Kayleigh and Brady.
