It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Spence Kirkland of Batesburg, South Carolina, who passed away on November 6, 2025, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Mary Spence may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Mary Spence touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Gene and Joyce Harmon Spence; and her sister Linda Scott. She is survived by: her husband Terry Kirkland; her children, Terrel Kirkland Carson (Michael) and Tara Mayo (Ryan); and her grandchildren, Makayla, Jayke and Landon "L. D.".
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Samaria Baptist Church (6560 Fairview Rd, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006). A celebration of life was held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
