He was predeceased by: his parents, William Theodore Erving and Clara Bell West Erving; his wife Ella Ruth Davis-Erving; his brother Steve Erving; and his grandson Xavion Carter.
He is survived by: his children, Michael J. Erving (Tammy) and Felicia S. Erving of Columbia, SC; his grandchildren, Yigeria Erving of Columbia, SC and Zariya Gibson of Columbia, SC; and his in-laws, Carrie Kinard, Georgia Carroll, Mae E. Gilliam, Shirley Brown (Andrew) and Arleen Davis. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
