He was predeceased by : his wife Mary Katherine Hurst Monroe; his parents, Roy Leigh Monroe and Mary Rummage Monroe; and his brother Steve Monroe. He is survived by : his daughters, Shea M. Kinard (Joseph) of Fairfax and Jennifer M. Lazenby (Brian) of Beaufort; his grandchildren, Drayton Kinard (Valorie) of Hampton, Madison (Braden), Wyatt Greene, Malia, Julia and Hannah; his great grandchildren, Charlee, Carter, Matthew, Emersyn and Colton; his siblings, Mike Monroe, Pat Fields (William) and Margaret Hicks (Bill); and also Michael.
