It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Waters Sr. of Beaufort, South Carolina, born in Savannah, Georgia, who passed away on August 26, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Horace Waters and Helen Edith Waters (Mikell); his wife Peggy Ann Waters (Mcvey); his son John Lewis Waters; and his siblings, Cleavy Eugene Waters, Clarence "Buddy" Dow Waters and Helen Edith Robertson (Waters).
He is survived by: his children, James Robert Waters, Jr. (Sherry Waters) and Windy Ann Vest; his grandchildren, Glen Robert Waters (Heather), Liane Nichole Crouse (Aaron), Zachary Adam Tihey (Hannah) and Shelby Ann Vest; his great grandchildren, Audrey Taylor Croft, Robert Martin Waters, Aaron Glen Crouse Jr. and Mason James Waters; and his siblings, Leamon Waters (Chris) and Linda Keaton (Bud).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Sea Island Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice in Ridgeland, SC.
