He was predeceased by: his parents, James Barber and Carolyn Barber; and his brother David Barber. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia; his children, Jim (Jessica), Elizabeth (Todd) and Brad (Angie); his grandchildren, Connor (Georgia), Ethan, Nick, Emma, Mary Amelia, Elaina and Clara; and his sister-in-law Pat Barber.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for charitable donations to be made to the Baptist Church of Beaufort.
