Joan leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Joan’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Volz and Caroline Volz. She is survived by: her husband John T. "Jack" Burke; and her children, Patsy Cooler (Gary) of Statesboro, Georgia, Jack Burke (Cindi) of Beaufort, Jimmy Burke (Tracey) of Greenwood and Denise Smith (Billy) of Beaufort. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Beaufort National Cemetery (1601 Boundary St, Beaufort, SC 29902). Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the St John's Lutheran Church (157 Ladys Island Dr, Beaufort, SC 29907).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
