He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph and Mary; his son-in-law Russell Diller; his sisters, Agnes, Francis (Spades) and Gertrude; Skipper.
He is survived by: his significant other Catherine Schaefer Dobbratz (Dinksy) of Port Royal, SC; his children, Matthew Smith, William Dobbratz (Jenny), Cathy Diller and Mimi Cox (Wes); his grandchildren, Marshall Smith, Dylan, Alex Cox, Schaefer and Annie Dobbratz; his nephews, Geoffrey (Mary) and Greg Spades; and his niece Judith Collin (Barry).
