It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Pierre N McGowan of Beaufort, South Carolina, born in Savannah, Georgia, who passed away on December 26, 2022, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel McGowan and Henrietta Marie Vurpillot. He is survived by: his children, Pierre Noel McGowan Jr., Nancy Ruth Townsend (David Townsend), Marti Louise Chitwood and Kelly Noel McGowan; his grandchildren, Jeremy Alan Herschaft (Meroe Morse) and Jordan Blair Herschaft; and his great grandchildren, Rainer Dryden Herschaft, Seneca Pierre Herschaft, Haven Louise Herschaft and Finley Lillian Herschaft.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his name to The Open Land Trust, 905 Charles Street Beaufort, SC 29902, for land protection on St. Helena's Island and the surrounding barrier islands.
