He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruby Monteith Birnie McKee and William Birnie, Sr.; and his stepfather Lyman McKee. He is survived by: his wife Shelley Connor Birnie; his daughter-in-law Katherine; and his granddaughter Elizabeth.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Beaufort National Cemetery (1601 Boundary St, Beaufort, SC 29902). The military honors will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at the same location.
